My how you've grown!

Have you ever wondered what it's like to keep up with clothing 26 growing kids?? I hadn't either....until a few weeks ago when I started seeing this:



Julian has grown about 3 inches! I gave her a new pair of pants that fit in length but are pretty big at the waist. She has to wear a belt with them and they are all bunched up. When she was trying them on she said, "Auntie, when I get fat these will catch me?"

A DAY OFF

Staff days off while on tour are interesting: no vehicle or home of your own. Thankfully I have had mostly wonderful experiences on my Tuesday days off. Sometimes families have extra cars that they let us borrow (we love these generous people!). Other times we just hang out together at a host families home. Half of us staff have Tuesday off and the others on Thursday. It is nice to spend time with the other chaperones and get to know them more. Here are pictures from my last day off....I was staying with a host family (and there cute dog!). I spent the morning with Max (the dog), my Mac, and a good book. When I look at this first picture I realise that tour life has really changed me....look how I made the bed and have my pajamas neatly folded at the end of the bed! The children are rubbing off on me!

South Dakota

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN A SOUTH DAKOTA HOTEL DURING HUNTING SEASON WHEN:
1. You go down to breakfast and are blinded by all the orange clothing
2. The dogs in the hotel out number the people
3. The trucks and trailers are taking over the parking lot
4. Their is a "pheasant cleaning" service advertised in the lobby
5. Instead of hearing teenage kids late at night you may hear a dog or two barking
6. You see a huge sign outside saying "WELCOME HUNTERS!"
Did I mention the dogs?
Also what is the story with North and South Dakota hotels not having elevators?
Don't they know how heavy my "overnight bag" has become?

Future Plans

"Hello, my name is Enid. I am a 9 year old Uganda. When I grow up I want to be a Midwife." This is how the second half of our concert begins. All of the children share what they want to be when they grow up. "When is it going to snow Auntie Jenny?"

"When is it going to snow Auntie Jenny?" The kids are so very excited about the prospect of possibly seeing snow soon! We actually had to give them their winter coats on Oct. 9th when we were in Minneapolis. The temperature was around 45 degrees and we walked about 6 blocks from the church to see the Mississippi river (which they can all spell now:). They are all so very proud and thankful for the winter coats and hats! We have decided that since we are going to be spending so much time in Northern US and Canada that we are going to put boots and long underwear on our wishlist! (for kids and Aunties and Uncles!!!!) FIRST TIME STAYING IN A HOTEL!!! When we first got to the hotel they only had 2 of the 8 rooms clean so we crammed 14 girls in one and 12 boys in the other for nap time. Believe it or not they did sleep! I think it must been the 6:30 am flight that made them sleepy!

IN OUR CONCERT EACH OF THE KIDS GET A CHANCE TO SAY THEIR NAME, HOW OLD THEY ARE, WHERE THEY ARE FROM, AND WHAT THEY WANT TO BE WHEN THEY GROW UP. JACOB SAYS:




"HELLO, MY NAME IS JACOB. I AM A EIGHT YEAR OLD UGANDAN. WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE A PRESIDENT."
