FIRST TIME STAYING IN A HOTEL!!! When we first got to the hotel they only had 2 of the 8 rooms clean so we crammed 14 girls in one and 12 boys in the other for nap time. Believe it or not they did sleep! I think it must been the 6:30 am flight that made them sleepy!

A Week of Firsts

A WEEK OF FIRSTS

The children have now been in The United States for one week. I thought I would share some of their "firsts" with you: singing for their first concert, shopping for shoes at wal-mart, putting on a seatbelt in a vehicle, riding in an elevator, taking a shower, having their laundry washed and dried in a machine, and eating hot dogs, tacos, macaroni and cheese, PB and J sandwiches, lettuce salad, and strawberries. I love the chance to experience my world in their perspective!

This week has also been a week of "firsts" for me: introducing the children for our concert, leading meetings for my "staff", trying to use a blackberry, signing consent forms as the "guardian" of 26 children so they can get chicken pox vaccines, giving a demerit, wearing a radio with earpiece, and finally...this is the first time in quite awhile that I have made my bed ALL week - each and every day! And to think.....Next week I will be taking 26 kids to the airport to fly to an event with President Bush and Bono! What a life! Please keep praying for me!

Choir 30 has arrived!

Choir 30 has arrived safe and sound! I was so very happy to see their smiling faces and get their hugs at the airport. My favorite questions of the day were when Kristine asked which group of kids was to do the dinner dishes and Harriet asking where the mosquito nets were! Another fun experience was to hear Jane and Jackie laughing so very hard while enjoying their first shower ever! (I think their was some dancing going on in there!) I have been reminded over and over again just today about how much I take for granted! Enid has also coached me on the correct pronunciation of Chicago ( shicago)! Sorry I don't have time for more than these few tidbits....but I thought you would enjoy them! Tomorrow we will work on getting all the right sized clothes to the right child's bag. Please continue to pray for the children and our chaperone team.

Just the Facts

JUST THE FACTS!

I leave Bloomington tomorrow(Tues. Sept. 11) to go to Cedar Lake, IN where I will meet up with the other 3 Western Chaperones and our bus.

On Wed. (Sept. 12) we will go to O'Hare Airport to pick up the 26 kids and 3 African Chaperones.

We will stay at the camp Sept. 12-18th and let the kids relax a little and get used to the time difference.

Sept. 19th is our first concert in Davenport Iowa. It looks as if this may be the closest we will be to Bloomington/Normal.

I put a schedule of concerts through Oct. in the colum at the right. If you plan on going to a concert I would suggest calling the number provided to confirm the concert just in case any changes have been made.
