A few comments I heard during our drive through the beautiful Kootenay pass: "AUNTIE, HOW DO THEY MAKE THOSE MOUNTAINS?" "IT IS SNOWING AGAIN?" "DEER! DEER! DEER!"
THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY INTERESTING SIGNS WE SAW AS WE DROVE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. ANOTHER FAVORITE
WAS A WARNING AGAINST AVALANCHES!

PINCHER CREEK, AB CANADA
Did you know the ACC's main office is in Canada? The staff in Canada sent us a "Welcome to Canada" box last week. It was full of Canadian flags, chocolate loonies, and some fake "lumberjack" mustaches. Here's the fun we had:

A Horrible Discovery
I made a horrible discovery today........They do not have DIET Mt. Dew in Canada. I can't believe we've been in Canada for 9 days and I am just now figuring this out. I wonder how far of a drive it is to the border.......?

HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE?
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE?
This is the question I got while standing in the Wal-mart check out line in Lethbridge, Alberta Cananda this evening. The middle-aged, middle-class looking man had noticed the 12 pairs of boys tennis shoes (or "runners" as my Canadian friends call them) in my shopping cart. I contemplated how to answer.....finally I said, "26. I have 26 children." He gave me a weird look so I continued on by saying, "I'm traveling with the African Children's Choir. These are just the 12 boys shoes. I haven't found the girls shoes I want yet." So while we continued to wait in line he asked me the questions everyone asks me...."Where are the children from? How old are they? Are they orphans?" After he went through the check out line himself he stood by the cashier just watching me. After I used the 4 Wal-mart gift cards that had been donated to us from Host Families the man stepped up and paid the rest of the bill which was over $100 dollars. I love how God meets all our needs....even in the Wal-mart check out line!

In Canada
A FEW OBSERVATIONS OF MY FIRST FEW HOURS IN CANANDA
1. They still have pay phones here
2. There is a picture in my hotel room that quotes John 3:16
3. I don't know how to set the temperature on the thermosat in my hotel room because I don't understand celsius
4. People here really do say "a" after just about every sentence
5. I still haven't learned how to spell sascatchawon

BOWLING DURING CHRISTMAS BREAK
During Christmas Camp we went to a nearby town to go bowling. This was the first time we had gone all together although some of the kids had gone with host families in the past months. I was suprised we didn't leave holes in those bowling lanes! Many bowling balls "bounced" their way down the lane to the pins! I had to laugh when Faulanta, concerned about my low score, told me to "catch (which means hold or take) this ball Auntie Jenny." and then gave me the red bowling ball declaring that it would work well for me cause red is the color of Jesus blood and he died for me! I also thought it was pretty cute when a few of the kids were a little disappointed cause they thought they were going to get to keep the bowling shoes! I love how every activities is such an adventure with these kids!
